Extract from the public documentation. Keep the API key on your server.

FRED is in private beta. Access and capabilities are checked before the first orders.

From a file to a tracked order.

You own the customer relationship. FRED coordinates the manufacturing steps.

  1. Identify the model

Upload a file or use a saved model. Prepare dimensions, material, colours and quantity.

  2. Request a quote

Send the configuration and destination. Display the result, any required approvals and available offers.

  3. Confirm the order

Keep the quote identifiers and approvals. Confirmation and payment come before the manufacturing request.

  4. Receive updates

Read order status or receive events through webhooks. Your application can follow manufacturing and shipping.

An API for your own sales journey.

The FRED REST API is designed for custom stores, configurators and applications that want to offer 3D printed objects without building a manufacturing system.

Your application handles the customer experience. FRED brings together files, configurations, quotes, orders and operational tracking. The public reference describes endpoints and their constraints.

Show a quote that reflects the request.

A price depends on a model and its configuration. Include a destination to obtain available shipping information. If no compatible manufacturing offer exists, your interface should communicate that unavailability.

A preview or initial estimate does not replace quote approvals. Changes to a file, colours or dimensions can change the steps required before manufacturing.

Test before accepting real orders.

The documentation distinguishes test environments from production orders. Use the sandbox and its keys according to the capabilities enabled for your account, with fictional data and a test webhook receiver.

Keep the idempotency key for creation requests to handle retries. Protect keys on your server, verify incoming events and plan for recovery after network incidents.

  • Test quotes, their limits and cases without compatible offers.
  • Check confirmation, approvals and order updates.
  • Keep test keys and events separate from production.

Access that matches your account.

Service access is activated during the private beta. API keys belong to an account and carry permissions. Public documentation does not grant anonymous access to account data or manufacturing.

Describe the workflow you want to integrate and the products you plan to sell. Begin with one model, a quote and a test order, then verify the integration before accepting real orders.

Before you start.

Can I use my own website or configurator?

Yes. The API lets you integrate FRED operations into your application. Available endpoints and prerequisites are described in the public documentation.

Can the API directly control a printer?

The customer API prepares and tracks orders. It does not provide direct access to printer commands in the network.

How do I start without requesting real manufacturing?

Read the sandbox guide, use the test access enabled for your account and check quotes, orders and webhooks with fictional data.
