FRED: building 3D printing on demand from Europe

FRED is based in Europe. This is where we are building our 3D printing on demand service: a brand sells an object, a partner farm makes it, and the parcel goes to the customer. We want to grow this network from the workshops and manufacturing expertise already present in Europe.

Start with the needs of brands and workshops

For a brand, selling an object should not require buying machines or coordinating every manufacturer separately. For a workshop, receiving an actionable order requires clear information about the part, its configuration and shipping.

We bring files, quotes, orders and tracking together in FRED. Building in Europe gives us a concrete starting point: develop the service for the brands and workshops we want to connect, then expand the network as capabilities are validated.

A shared network instead of stock in every market

On-demand manufacturing starts with a digital catalogue and produces when an order is confirmed. The network can expand by onboarding farms and their capabilities through a shared framework for tracking and quality.

This creates a way to serve more markets without holding finished inventory everywhere. Available materials, workshop capacity and supported destinations still need checking for each project.

A European base with open integrations

A brand can use Shopify, develop a custom website with the API or work with an MCP-compatible assistant. The aim is to make manufacturing accessible from tools teams already use.

Example: a brand designs an accessory, checks a sample and its quote, then prepares the listing. FRED coordinates manufacturing and tracking using capabilities available to the account; the seller remains responsible for the product listing and commitments to the buyer.

What does this European base mean today?

FRED is in private beta and is progressively expanding its service. Being based in Europe does not mean every destination already has a workshop, or that every component and material is European in origin. Our strength is building this network from Europe, with an ambition for proximity and concrete validation steps.
